Trent Shaw – Aussie Death Racer 2014

trent_3 Sometimes You Have to Loose to Win

After a bad injury playing Rugby League, 2 weeks in traction and 6 months in a neck brace I turned to the 2 things that most young guys turn to when they feel like they have lost everything. Booze and Women. 10 years passed, I gained 30 odd kg enjoying a pack a day smoke habit and 100 cans per week of beer.  My life was spiraling out of control.

Day after my 28th birthday bender I had a realization.

5 weeks later I was in Melbourne, with $300 in the bank and a job,  8 weeks later I went from 127 kg to 105kg. I started by running 5 km per day eating 0 carbohydrates and 0 sugar.  I was on a mission. 12 weeks later I met my future wife and 2 years later I ran my first Marathon – I was hooked.

Throughout this journey I have become a Personal Trainer and built a great business with Staff and a great network of friends.  All throughout 2012 we had great business growth, and personal growth with the arrival of our bundle of joy Emmerson Rose – which my wife and I both agree is our greatest achievement.

During this time of huge growth I also trained 12 to 15 hours per week trying to get my mind and body ready for the hardest race of my life Worlds Toughest Mudder.

As the founder of STF Sponsored Athletes I was looking for people with certain characteristics. They all have something from with in- Massive Heart!! I have hand picked the STF Sponsored athletes based on the fact that they have respect for all of life’s physical and emotional challenges, but they do not fear them. These guys may not win their chosen events but they achieve much more than a trophy. All have come from unique stories.

I hope you enjoy each and every journey at the STF blog and please do not hesitate to contact any of the athletes or donate to each of the causes!!
